Getting Ready for the Phd Journey

The purpose of the circles is to prepare for successfully applying for and beginning the PhD. The circles may also be of interest to Indigenous graduates keen on keeping in touch with research practices and possibilities.

Our circles are on the second Thursday of every month from 4:30-6:30, occasionally we have extra circles when there is a visiting Indigenous academic. Topics will be practical (i.e creating a toolkit for the PhD journey, making a strong application for admission) as well as hearing from those who have done their doctorate – their story and motivation; their tops and advice. Before each circle we will send you a resource or a reading to have a look at that will help inform our discussions.

Each circle will talk to that months theme and involve:

  • Forming the Circle – who is with us
  • Encouraging the Circle – guest researchers story/tips
  • Strengthening the Circle – small group workshops for specific needs/interests
  • Acknowledging the Circle – bringing us all back together
